Artist's Comments

This is my *signature* piece. I entered it into a national jewelry competition and placed as a finalist! Yay!

Dragonscale weave with sterling silver 5mm and 7mm rings, 20 gauge.

Yummy fun.

~drakonlily: alright, I'll say it. I missed your pretty boys.

~drakonlily to ~Sorda: Well, I may make you play your namesake, for the sake of her being your namesake.

*sigh* I got about a square inch of this stuff done, realized I had the aspect ratio slightly off and decided never again...

how does the clasp work?

are all the rings soldered? i've had a 4 in 1 bracelet done for the better part of a year, i just can't get myself to finish the cleanup. so many solder joints...

i've also not come up with a clasp. :(
:iconmailledragon:
The clasp is actually really easy, one side just slides inside the other; hence the name, slide lock clasp. :P I bought mine from a retailer/wholesaler online; they're easy to get a hold of. Very nice for the wider bracelets, as they let them sit full width on your wrist without bunching up like sometimes happens with smaller clasps.

I actually don't solder my rings--they join so well, and the cuts are very flush, that I feel they don't need it. No trouble with it coming apart, either. (Though I suppose it could if I pulled hard enough...but I've worn it around my toddler and so far no prob.)

:iconmailledragon:
yeah, I know what you mean--I've started and stopped many times myself. Fortunately my first attempt had a good dose of beginner's luck; it was my bracelet I wore at my wedding. Though none of the others have come out so well as that one.

And it just looks so cool, I can't help myself....
